Thanks to the “Training for Employment” project, promoted by E.S.S.E.G. (Genovese School of Building) in collaboration with the Municipality of Genoa, the Liguria Region, ANCE Genoa, labor unions, and Fincosit, 71 individuals have secured qualified employment. The initiative, particularly aimed at migrants hosted in the Extraordinary Reception Centers (CAS) in Genoa, provided a concrete response to social and labor inclusion.
The project included six training courses for construction workers and carpenters, with 91 candidates selected from over 500 interviewed. Of these, 75 completed the training program, which consisted of 400 hours of both theoretical lessons and practical internships, amounting to over 34,000 total hours of training.
To date, Fincosit has hired 29 workers, with an additional 12 hires planned by January 2025. Moreover, 30 participants will be employed by other companies through staffing agencies, while four chose to decline job offers.
Salvatore Sarpero, a representative of Fincosit, commented: “We are proud to have developed this fruitful collaboration, contributing to the training of new generations of professionals. This synergy demonstrates how the connection between institutions, the education sector, and businesses can deliver tangible results, promoting employment and enhancing the skills needed to tackle the challenges of the industry. Fincosit’s presence in Genoa and Liguria is a testament to our commitment to the region; in fact, we have exceeded the 60% hiring commitment, reaching an average of 66%.”
With this initiative, “Training for Employment” showcases how teamwork between the public and private sectors can create concrete opportunities, transforming social challenges into tangible outcomes for local development.
