The tenth caisson destined for Genoa’s new breakwater has been lowered into the sea, marking further progress on this major infrastructure project.
At the same time, seabed preparation works continue: over 34,000 gravel columns have already been installed, totaling around 406,000 linear meters — more than half of the project’s planned overall length.
In the coming days, prefabrication will also begin on even larger caissons, which will reach up to 67 meters in length, 35 meters in width, and a maximum height of 33 meters. These massive structures will be built inside the ‘Tronds Barge 33’ prefabrication basin in Vado Ligure.
Currently, the site employs more than 450 people, including both direct staff and workers from subcontractor companies.
