The floating dock “Benedetta,” owned by Fincosit, the lead company in the consortium also including RCM and tasked with constructing the new Cruise Pier in Calata Paita in the first port basin, was moored in recent days at the head of the Enel pier. Here, following the completion of setup work, the prefabrication activities for the 37 concrete caissons that will make up the supporting structure of the new La Spezia cruise pier’s quay will commence.

In addition to the floating dock Benedetta, other maritime vessels have been mobilized for the project’s planned works: the motor barge Nuovo Rubicone, and the pontoon Nausangol II, which will join the already operational pontoon Giulia, as well as the motor vessel San Luca Primo, currently en route with an expected arrival in the coming days.

The dock “Benedetta” will be used in the prefabrication of the caissons, while the pontoons and motor vessels will initially be used in consolidating the seabed with gravel columns and in the subsequent activities of constructing the base trench and solid ballast for the structures, upon the completion of towing and sinking operations.
